After weeks of kneeling, Kaepernick to start against Bills
San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernickwill start his first game of the season Sunday. Kaepernick, benched in part because of surgery and injury, began kneeling during the national anthem in the preseason to protest racial inequality and police brutality. Niners coach Chip Kelly said the decision was all about football — and the fact that the team has gotten off to a 1-4 start. The lineup change also comes as Kaepernick and the 49ers have reached a restructured deal that could allow the quarterback to become a free agent in March. The Buffalo Bills will host San Francisco on Sunday at 1 p.m ET.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 gets grounded across the U.S.
Effective Saturday at noon ET, the Department of Transportation will ban Samsung Galaxy Note 7 phones from all airline flights after nearly 100 incidents of the devices overheating and sometimes injuring owners. MLB playoffs turn to League Championship Series
Game 2 of the American League Championship Series between the Cleveland Indians and Toronto Blue is Saturday afternoon in Cleveland (4 p.m. ET, TBS), with the Indians leading the series 1-0. Toronto pitcher J.A. Happ, a 20-game winner in 2016, had been set to face off against Cleveland’s Trevor Bauer, but Bauer injured himself repairing a drone. Josh Tomlin will start Game 2 in Bauer’s spot. The best-of-seven National League Championship Series begins Saturday in Chicago, as the Cubs host the Los Angeles Dodgers (8 p.m. ET, Fox Sports 1). The Cubs are four wins away from their first trip to the World Series since 1945, and eight wins from the franchise’s first title since 1908. While the Dodgers‘ drought is 80 years shorter, the team has not reached the World Series since 1988, which they won in five games.
Hunter’s supermoon brings dazzling color to the sky
A rare treat will light up the night sky this weekend as this year’s Hunter’s moon will also be a supermoon. The Hunter’s moon comes every year as the first full moon after the Harvest moon, which is the full moon around the autumn equinox. A Hunter’s moon brings the moon closer to the horizon while a supermoon brings the moon to its closest point to Earth in its monthly orbit. Because this Hunter’s moon is also a supermoon, it will beam its red-orange hue even brighter. The glow will be visible both Saturday and Sunday nights.
Super typhoon remnants forecast to drop more rain than Matthew
Powerful remnants of a typhoon are set to strike the Pacific Northwest Saturday, bringing strong winds and heavy rainfall. The storm could cause flooding, mud slides, power outages and property damage to Washington, Oregon and California. Sixteen trillion gallons of water are forecast to drop in the area, two trillion more than Hurricane Matthew brought to the southeast U.S. coast last weekend. The remnants stem from Super Typhoon Songda, which swirled around in the Pacific before curving away from Japan earlier this week.
